Video Works
I've worked with video since the late 80's. After learning linear editing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, I manipulated analog video on a Dan Sandin Image Processor at the Center for New Television. Now the video I work with is computer manipulated, using a combination of Arkaos, FinalCut, and iMovie.
I consider Ed Rankus a primary influence (especially his work "She Heard Voices"), along with Laurie Anderson and H-Gun. If you are curious about video artists, a good place to look is at the Video Data Bank. They have small quicktime excerpts from their collection online. There is also a large and active community of VJs on the VJForums.
Most of the video art I make is collaborative with my partner Kriss De Jong, as Killer Banshee Visuals. We create video perfomances to our own scores, and in conjunction with other performance events. For the past 5 years, we have created the visuals for PeaceOUT:World HomoHop Festival in Oakland CA. The videos here are based mostly on material we use for video performance.
